StorePulse versus checking by hand.

Most brands watch competitors the same way: a spreadsheet, a few bookmarked product pages, and whoever has a spare half hour on Friday. Here is what that misses, and what a dedicated Shopify monitor does instead.

Side by side

Manual monitoring vs StorePulse.

What about writing your own scraper?

DAY 1

The script is the easy part

Shopify exposes a public catalog, so a first pass takes an afternoon. Then comes variants, compare-at prices, selling plans, collection order, image re-saves that change URLs but not pictures, and stores that block anything that looks automated.

WEEK 4

Diffing is the hard part

Raw HTML changes on every load. Telling a real price cut from a timestamp, a tracking parameter, or a re-ordered JSON key is most of the work, and it is the part that silently breaks when a theme updates.

ONGOING

Then you own it

Scheduling, retries, robots.txt, rate limits, screenshots, history storage, alerts, and someone to fix it at 7 a.m. when a competitor changes their theme. StorePulse is that whole operation, from $29 a month.

When manual is fine

You may not need this yet.

If you track one competitor with a dozen products and a glance a month is enough, keep the spreadsheet. StorePulse earns its place when the catalog is bigger than you can eyeball, when a price move needs to reach you the day it happens, or when more than one person needs the same picture of the market.

See what a scan actually does

Retire the Friday check

Add the stores you already watch by hand.

Baseline in minutes, first changes on the next scan, no access to anyone's Shopify.
